So I added more to this scene and rendered it in cycles so it would look better. I did not recreate the geometry of the room to project the video onto for more accurate ray tracing. The ivy was made using the ivy generation add on. I need to fix the materials and leef shapes of the ivy but that can be put off.

Pixel Sculpting A Monkey (2)
Here is Blender's lovely monkey Suzanne. In this I simply animated the re-mesh modifier set to cubes. The final evolution is just the mesh without the modifier.

Pixel Sculpting A Monkey (1)
The name should more accurately be voxel sculpting (it's not even a voxel and im not sculpting). Here is a preview of what hopefully I will have rendered by tomorrow. For this I utilized some cool and relatively new modifiers.

poor man's tilt-shift
So this is a poor man's tilt-shift lens (you take the lens off the camera and tilt it). I would not recommend this technique if you only have on camera because you could possibly get dust on the sencer which is not fun. I guess this is not the best example because it just looks a macro like a supper shallow depth of field thing. Anyway some what out of focus but here it is.

Ax Guy
Here is a quick drawing I made in photoshop. The character is bassed off of a picture from the incredibly useful Figure Drawing Tool. You can see the basic colors I used (the colors and shading were after the fact of drawing meaning they may not be correct to the photo).

GarageBand Loop
This is a song I made with loops in Garage Band. I am playing around with dynamic track volume as well as tempo.

Cycles Render Tank
Here is a quick cycles render of my tank. I still have yet to really master cycles. Getting good results with ray tracing is tough.
IndieFX intro 2
here is the new IndieFX intro I made over the winter. Nothing complicated.

Cycles
This is my first cycles animation render. Its a little on the dark side but thats easily fixed. The real chalenge is just keeping the noise down.

Tracking Round 3
Here is the previous shot with rotoscoping. At the end it gets glitchy, I should have cached that in mocha but oh well.

Lenses Poster
This is a mock movie poster I made last year at about this time for a school project. From what I remember this picture was actually taken with a old 35mm film camera I took out some brand info on the camera in photoshop but any way here it is.

Tracking Round 2
Here is a another simple VFX shot. This is my second round of tracking the previous shot. I still need to mask out the beginning but that can happen later. Additionally I could work on better compositing and maybe another texture for the hard wood floor for better integration.

Photoshop Raw Workflow
Here is my doggy. To brake down the corrections I did in photoshop. First I color corrected to get the correct white balance. Then I adjusted for exposure. After that I either use curves or use the sliders to get the over all look (I went for more contrast here) Then I use the hue, saturation and luminance panal to single out individual colors. Then I split tone the highlights one color and the darks the opposite color for punchiness (this is a trick widely used in video). After that I adjust for noise reduction using the luminance tool. Once that is all done I either save it as a jpeg or bring it through regular photoshop for more detailing.

Double Fracture Simulation
Here is a simulation I did yesterday. The goal of it was to have a fracture shard fracture again when it hits the floor. Sounds simple but it is not anyway it involves a lot of blender game logic but here it is . The fancy double fracture object is the large on on the right side that splits into two peaces (double fracture).
I am looking to post more drawings soon but right now 3d stuff is all I have at hand.

Photographs
I acquired through monitory and Amazon means a m42 to ef adapter for my camera. This means i can slap old film slr lenses from onto my grandfather onto my camera. The aperture of the lens I was using was 1.8 which gave a crazy depth of field. All of these were taken in raw and edited in photoshop, Anyway here they are

2001 Monolith
Here is a rough cut of a short I have been working on. Right now I need to work on the color grading (I did not realize how severe it looked) and the sound. The premis of the video is that he sees the monolith from 2001 Space Odyssey and when he goes out to touch it it falls apart. Some of the compositing could use some work but that would require green screens any way... (made in blender and AE.

Blender tracking exercise round 2
So expanding on yesterday's post here is a brake down of the scene.
The original frame from the movie clip
The foreground object
The recreated scene geometry (not perfect)
Slightly better render then before

Blender Tracking Exercise
Soooo..... Here is a render of a blender file I have been working on the past two days. I tracked points in the video and then solved for the camera motion. After that I recreated the geometry (could tweak of the scene so and added Suzanne (the monkey and blender's mascot) as well as a cloth simulation. So to cut to the chase the gray stuff is fake, cg, vfx, not real.

Number One
So, this blog is going to be more of a motivation to do things. Not to show off anything. Hopefully I will post something at least once a week of something I have been doing from drawing to rendering 3d stuff
So Here It Goes,
Basic walk cycle made in toonboom during CCAD Saturday morning art class a while ago. I have other less finished animations from Adobe Flash but I will hold off on that.
